For all those merchants out there who want their customers to be able to simply enter product codes and quantities in a multiple-record entry form, and then send the whole lot to the cart with relevant validation/auto-correction along the way, we've now released our quick-order screen as a vpasp addon:

will be nice if the item description is automatically updated as customers tab away from the column..I believe ajax scripting will do that easily without the need to reload/refresh te screen as it is currently is.

Overall...nice add-on which is much needed in the community

Ajax / dhtml would be very clever but a headache to maintain & support (my 2 cents) but a simple and (possibly) helpful feature would be to include the link(_blank) to the product on the off chance the buyer types in a Prduct Code and gets an unexpected result.

This tool would be particularly useful for companies such as ours who distribute hard copy catalogs!

One question - will the Quick Order form enforce minimum quantity / increments (100, 200, 300 etc...)?

Thanks in advance,

yes, it will inforce min/max qties per product. if you enter a qty above what the max qty is (or below what the min qty is) then it'll automatically adjust the qty in the quick-order screen to the next available/valid level, and it'll display a message on that item line saying that it's been adjusted, and once it's done that you can then try sending the items to the cart again.
for those min/max qty checks it also takes account of how many (if any) of that item might already be in the mini-cart (eg if a max qty is 100, and you've already added 75 to your cart from before, then if you try adding 50 then it'll adjust the amount in the quickorder screen to 25 and tell you that no more than 100 are allowed and that you already have 75 in the cart). It also takes account of the possibility that you might have entered the same product code on the screen more than once (eg "prd001" might be in 2 or 3 different quick-order lines)

the min/max qty checks (and customer discounts) were amongst the biggest headaches from our point of view coding-wise, but they're something that we thought really needed to be done for it to be a viable/sellable addon.

for all ideas (ie as per the posts above) that come through, (via our support area, emails, or the vpasp forum) we're adding those to an internal task list so that they'll all be considered for the next release, so if anyone has any requests/ideas, no matter how minor/major they might seem to be, please do let us know.

Adding an _blank/popup link to the product detail page when it returns the prices would be a nice option too I think.

The ajax/javascript aspect of grabbing the details dynamically without having to post is a nice one, but it would slow the entry down quite a lot. Having said that, different sites will be after different things, and whereas some sites might have thousands of products, others might only have a handful, so when it comes to things like how the details get returned/shown and how it goes about listing the default records to begin with; all that's something that we'd like to hear ideas about.

Is this support features/ sub-products?

not really; the quick-order aspect isn't suited to products which have features purely due to its nature, because using features means that each row in the quick-order screen would need to show things in a different format and it'd get too complex.

Technically the addon doesn't display/support products which use features, but it depends on the nature of the features as to whether or not such products would work how you'd like them to.
