I am in the process of installing an SSL certificate for my web host and need to establish the relationship with the certificate and the checkout .asp page.
TIA Frank

I can probably help you, but please first rephrase your question. I do not understand what you are asking.

I have arrangements with Innovation Gateway Solutions to verify credit cards. I have obtained vpasp's shopping cart 'innovativeshopcheckout.asp' and 'innovativeshoppayment.asp' files and have followed the instructions in the 'innovativereadme.htm' file for installation and configuration changes for these files.
I have also made the appropriate vpasp shopping cart configuration changes to use SSL on my web server.
Not sure where to make appropriate changes to invoke the 'https;//myserver.com' so credit card submission will be completed?
TIA Frank

Hi Frank-
I think this will be easier if you view SSL and your credit card gateway separately. It might be that the main reason you are adding SSL is for your gateway, but SSL is really a separate entity.
First, check to make sure you have SSL working on your site. This is set up completely independent of VP-ASP and really has nothing to do with the cart. To do this, type the following address in your browser: https:/www.<yoursite>.com
Internet Explorer and Netscape show a small emblem of a padlock that is closed in the bottom right corner of the browser if this works correctly. If not, then you'll probably get a screen that says "This Page Cannot Be Displayed"
You can also email your sites URL to me if you'd like me to check it.

Tested the site after installing an SSL certificate and now get a 'Security Alert - The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site'
Need to contact the certificate provider to resolve this issue.
Thanks for your help, and I may have to re-post to the vpasp forum seeking more help.
v/r Frank

I have resolved the Security Alert issue with the web site.
I have followed the instructions for installing the vpasp SSL files.
I don't want the users to have to use the 'https' URL but use the normal 'http' URL for access to the site and then have the SSL used during the credit card checkout process.
How can I now confirm that the SSL certificate will be used during the final credit card checkout process??
TIA v/r Frank

Hi Frank-
SSL is NOT enabled unless the URL starts with https and the padlock emblem is closed in IE and Netscape. This is how you tell if the SSL certificate will be used during the final credit card checkout process. Just test it by going through the checkout process yourself. If you don't see the https on the critical pages, then its not enabled yet.
Its usually enabled on those pages using a redirect. The customer starts on a normal http link at your homepage and while they are shopping and then are redirected to a secure page when the proper time comes.
VP-ASP 5.0 comes with a config to allow this to happen automatically: just set xssl=https://www.<yoursite>.com This is covered in in section 32.3 on page 102 of the Developer's Guide which is available at http://www.vpasp.com/virtprog/vpasp500developer.pdf
However, in VP-ASP 5.0, https gets enabled a bit late in the process with the standard xssl config. It doesn't show up until after the name and address info is entered. If you want to enable it earlier, read this forum topic: http://www.vpasp.com/virtprog/vpaspforum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2636
